Health Promotion is defined as a ‘process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health’. Central Highlands Rural Health, Population Health Team is passionate about health and wellbeing and works closely with local services, community groups, sporting clubs and active recreation groups to ensure our local community is equipped with knowledge and resources to lead a healthy life.
The Population Health Team works closely with the Community Health and Wellbeing Teams comprising of Maternal Child Health, Oral Health, Physical Wellbeing and Mental Wellbeing to coordinate and support a number of local activities and events. Throughout the year this includes Women’s Health Week walks, Reconciliation Days, Men’s Health Week and Women’s Health Week initiatives, Prevention of violence against women, Walk to School initiatives including Active to School Passport and health education events at the Creswick Men’s Friendship Shed.
Healthy Lunchboxes, Healthy Kids: The Healthy Lunchboxes for Parents and Carer’s Booklet supports healthy choices and provides practical tips for adding extra nutrients and colour into children’s lunchboxes. Find out more and download you own copy.
