Sandy joined the Kyneton District Health Board in 2019 and is the Clinical Director: Cancer Surgery at Peter Mac. He qualified from Cambridge University and completed his general surgery training in the UK. He has undertaken colorectal fellowships at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, St Marks Hospital, London, and the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio.
He completed a doctorate at the University of London on rectal cancer and an MBA at Melbourne Business School. Professor Heriot is a Clinical Professorial Fellow at The University of Melbourne. He is Chairman of the Research Support Committee for the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and is a member of the Australasian Training Board in Colorectal Surgery (TBCRS). He is an active researcher focusing on complex colorectal disease. He leads a busy clinical practice with a particular interest in advanced and recurrent pelvic malignancy, peritoneal disease, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
